Joules was featured this week in Hilary Alexanders
Joules shoots on Easter Island: Joules townie and country fashion, dressing for the rural idyll
Joules has tapped into a townie dream to produce the ultimate "free range" country wardrobe.
'True to its country roots, Joules is based in Market Harborough, a prosperous market town in the East Midlands, on the Northants-Leicestershire border, which dates back to the 13th century and was formerly part of the Rockingham Forest, a favourite hunting ground for medieval kings. Tom Joule, 42, fits his own customer profile perfectly. He and his wife, their two children, a daughter, 9, and a son, seven, live in the town, with assorted dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and horses.'

Fashion Crowdfunding....
Here is an article for the Fashion Entrepreneur students (year 2 module) as well as for those of you interested in how new designers can get their collections into the spotlight.
BoF launched The FashionStake Diaries, a new series chronicling the development of FashionStake — a new online crowdfunding start-up focused, as the name suggests, on the fashion space in New York earlier in July 10. I have signed up to the e-mail alert, but as yet their is little activity:-)
It is very challenging for emerging fashion brands to get the financial and marketing support they need, so this crowdfunding approach — pooling together funds from fans via the internet to finance young designer businesses and one-off collections — seems to be a potential solution.
Peter (or anyone else).... have you any other examples of crowdfunding?

Celebrity endorsement....
Celebrity endorsement is always a popular area some students want to focus their dissertation topics around.
The challenge is to find a new angle to examine the topic from, to stop it just being a 'me to - nothing new' piece of work.
Business of Fashion highlighted an interesting article from The Independent newspaper.

Fashion Film canpaign to watch out for

'BoF Exclusive | Fashion Film Premiere: Elements by Jamie Morgan for REISS'
Is well woth a read, and is certainly a campaigh I will be looking out for in September. The article highlights why a 'unigue value proposition. Offering beautifully designed, well crafted clothes at an honest price' is no longer enough. The article discusses how an emotional connection is needed to support a 'concerted communication strategy' and how the internet is being used to help Reiss conpete on the global stage.
I can't waite to see the full film elements and the web campaign in September

Fashion and Wimbledon
As I watch todays Serena Willaims Wimbeldon 2009 finals with her signature red knickers regularly flashing below the expected white dress, I am reminded she has her own fashion line. She wore a rather more risque burlesque-style dress, from her own fashion label Eleven at the French Open. Check out the full lowdown on Mailonline articleCheck out this guardian news paper photographic review of 'fashion at wimbeldon', both on and off court.
